Dr. Ruwantha Weerakkody is a highly experienced specialist psychiatrist with extensive clinical experience across both public and private mental health services in Australia. He completed his medical training in Sri Lanka before undertaking advanced specialist psychiatry training in Sydney, and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Weerakkody contributes to the training of future doctors as a Lecturer in Psychiatry at the University of Newcastle, reflecting his commitment to evidence-based practice and high standards of clinical care.
Dr. Weerakkody has broad expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of a wide range of mental health conditions, including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, and eating disorders.
At Simchat, Dr. Weerakkody provides specialist psychiatric assessments for adults, forming a key part of the clinic’s multidisciplinary diagnostic pathway. Clients benefit from his thorough, evidence-based assessment approach while also being supported by the wider Simchat team throughout the process.
Dr. Weerakkody is fluent in English and Sinhalese (Sinhala).
Cameron Lewis is our Provisional Psychologist at Simchat, who works with children, adolescents and adults across a range of mental health concerns. His clinical focus includes neurodevelopmental assessments, mental health assessments, and psychotherapy support.
He holds a Bachelor of Psychological Science, Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours), and a Master of Professional Psychology, and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a provisional psychologist. As part of his professional development pathway, Cameron works under the supervision of a registered psychologist, ensuring his clinical work is supported by ongoing professional guidance and best-practice standards.
Prior to joining Simchat, Cameron spent three years working in support roles with children and adults with neurodevelopmental conditions and mental health concerns, providing him with valuable experience supporting clients with diverse needs.
At Simchat, Cameron provides assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other mental health concerns, as well as ongoing psychotherapy support for clients who may benefit from structured therapeutic care.
Cameron primarily works using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and has completed additional training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT). He is also continuing to develop his knowledge and experience in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Clients can expect an empathetic and collaborative approach, where Cameron works alongside them to understand their concerns, explore possible answers, and develop practical strategies to support their wellbeing.
He is motivated by personal family experiences with mental health and a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
Outside of work, Cameron enjoys spending time outdoors, hiking, gaming, fantasy and science fiction media, and board games.
Cameron offers both in-person sessions at Simchat’s Wyong clinic on the Central Coast and telehealth appointments.
